So, I’mma post this here, even though I don’t have many followers… But, I gotta get this out. I’m an atheist. I have known for quite a while now that I didn’t believe in a god, but really solidified this within the last two years. But, that’s not what I’m trying to vent about.

We had to do presentations in spanish about pretty controversial topics. One group did the existence of god. Well, our presentations were supposed to be factual and informational… This group’s was not. It was all biased and based on things that the presenters already knew about, no research was involved.

Well, they go up to present and the first thing they talk about is why people don’t believe in god. Well, I only took down a few reasons, so forgive me for not having all of them. The reasons were that people could not “see” him, people believed in evolution, and that people who don’t believe in god have a bad life…

Well, I sat in my chair, shaking with anger because these are obviously not reasons people choose to not believe in god. Maybe helpers, but not really reasons.

First of all, god cannot be seen. That’s the point. Otherwise, one wouldn’t need faith to believe in him.

Second, the catholic church has already accepted evolution. On top of that, there’s such substantial evidence, that one cannot really deny it. No, you are right, we didn’t come from monkeys, we came from a common ancestor… Ugh… 

And, lastly, I’m an atheist and I have a wonderful life full of people who love me, care about me, I’ve got a 3.9 GPA, I’m studying to be a teacher and better the next generation, and I greatly enjoy taking care of myself financially. So, yeah, nothing bad happening in my life.

Ugh… I fumed so hard throughout it all. The group went on to say that there was scientific evidence of the bible’s stories… But, failed to quote anyone or provide where this evidence was from. Now, it would have been way better to at least provide some kind of source, but nope. None at all from this group.

Well, the debate started after their presentation. I was the first to say something… I said that I was an atheist and had a wonderful life. And, they rebuttled by saying that they never said that nonbelievers had bad lives… I was like, uh… It’s in your presentation… Then went on to say that catholics have accepted evolution. That the pope has accepted evolution, yes, it’s slightly different, but it’s still a step in the right direction. I also said that evolution was fact… As to which the main girl of the presentation said something… I couldn’t make out the word she used so I can’t translate it into english… But, I retorted by saying that evolution was fact and as I went to explain, she said the word again, raised her hand in front of her face and facing me, then turned away… I was like, that’s not how a debate is done!! But, I just sat there, completely dumbfounded….

This girl, who was supposed to be kind and a good christian, completely ignored me and disrespected me…. I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but I kinda am… Even with how religious she is, I thought she was super nice and better than that… But obviously not….

Either way, sorry for not being online on this account. I have another roleplaying account that I use, w-i-n-r-y, so come find me there. I am on hiatus because of finals, though… So, I’m not on either account anyway for the next week or so…. So, yeah…

This is why I hate religion. I don’t the people who participate, but I can’t stand religion.
